Combating NHS workforce challenges in Yorkshire

Supporting overseas doctors in the heart of Yorkshire!

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for providing hospital services for the people of Bradford and communities across Yorkshire. We serve a core population of around 500,000 people and provide specialist services for some 1.1 million. The Trust employ over 5,500 staff, who work over several sites, including Bradford Royal Infirmary, which provides the majority of inpatient services, and St Luke’s Hospital, which predominantly provides outpatient and rehabilitation services.

In 2019, Bradford became the first healthcare organisation in Europe to implement a Command Centre to transform patient flow in their hospitals; they opened a new £3m flagship research centre – the Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research; started a two-year programme with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust to make their services more integrated for patients and easier for their staff to deliver; completed the £1.8m transformation of our Women’s and Newborn Unit; and launched their Education Plan to support their vision to become an outstanding provider of training and education.

The Trust has recently opened a new £28m wing as part of a £75m investment to improve patient care across their hospitals over a five-year period. It provides world-class facilities for elderly care, children’s services, a state-of-the-art intensive care unit with increased single-room provision and a retail concourse. The Trust is one of the leading centres in conducting applied research in the country, particularly in quality and safety, elderly care and rehabilitation.

We are thrilled to be in close collaboration with the Trust to support the NHS integration of British Citizens who completed their medical training outside the UK, providing a safe and supported route back for them to the NHS. Our unique programme will work on 4 key aims:

  • 🎯 To improve the NHS transition, induction and onboarding experience for both doctors and hiring managers
  • 🔗 To establish an efficiency-driven end-to-end overseas recruitment channel, utilising intuitive technology
  • 📈 To grow a long-term substantive workforce, reducing reactive recruitment and thus reducing agency spending
  • ⭐ To provide pastoral care to doctors new to the NHS system whilst providing real-time data and insights to the Trust to improve existing services

It’s a privilege to work closely with such innovative and forward-thinking teams at Bradford to deliver safer, more efficient overseas recruitment to help ensure patients receive the high-quality care they deserve.
